Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Grimdark Archive is an independent fan project. We try to collect as little as possible, keep it first-party, and tell you plainly what happens. This page is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.
What we collect, and why
Anonymous usage analytics. To understand how the catalog is used and how fast it
loads, we record first-party engagement (such as which books are opened, searches, and clicks on
"Buy on Amazon"), page-performance measurements (Core Web Vitals), and a new-versus-returning flag.
These are tied to a short-lived session id kept in your browser's sessionStorage that is
discarded when you close the tab. It is not a cross-visit identifier, and we do not store your IP
address. We also record an approximate country from Cloudflare's edge network. We run no advertising
and no third-party analytics.
Reports you send. If you report a missing book or an inaccuracy, we store your message and which book it was about. If you report a bug, we store your message, an optional email (only if you choose to give one), and technical context attached at the moment you submit: your browser and operating system, viewport size, language, the page you were on, recent in-page actions, and any recent JavaScript errors. This is collected only when you submit a report, to help us reproduce and fix the problem.
Your collection. The books you mark as owned or read are stored only in your
browser (localStorage). They are never sent to us.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use cookies. We use your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage
for the purposes above. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.
Third parties
Links to "Buy on Amazon" take you to Amazon, which applies its own tracking under its own policy. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Book cover images are loaded from Amazon and Open Library. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. We do not sell or share your personal information.
Retention
We keep analytics and reports for as long as they are useful for running and debugging the site, and prune old data periodically. A bug-report email is kept only to follow up on that report.
Your choices
Leave the email field blank if you do not want a reply. You can clear this site's data at any time from your browser. There are no third-party trackers here for a blocker to remove.
